I picked up on this clip of an interview of Tom “Durrrr” Dwan whilst he was at the Aussie Millions. Why were you missing in action Tom? I errr was… errr….playing online… when I should have been at my table… Guess he got that multi-tasking bit wrong.
He also gives absolutely nothing away in his answer on poker strategy, why do they even bother to interview him? I try to run good… and not fold…. if you fold you cant win….

At last we have something to work with. Last Friday, a Pennsylvania judge ruled that Texas Holdem poker is a game of skill and is not gambling. This case has set an excellent bar for future litigation and the defense of poker players.
Walter Watkins, the defendant, ran a $1-$2 No Limit Holdem poker game from his garage. He and a dealer, Diane Dent, were arrested, shackled and had to spend a night in prison for playing poker!
Apparently, an undercover Pennsylvania State Trooper had to play poker in Watkin’s garage to ensure their was sufficient evidence – An Undercover Poker Player – Will this be part of the plot in the next big gambling movie?…. Beware of your opponents… are you sure you know who they are?…
Judge James must have known a thing or two about poker. The ultimate question was, “Is poker predominantly a game of skill or is it a game of chance?”. And if it was a game of chance then it would be gambling, if it was a game of skill then it is not gambling. Simple!
Video poker games are mostly a game of chance and therefore these games are banned in Pennsylvania. Texas Holdem, however, has numerous literature written about it to prove that strategy is require to win. Many mathematical studies have also been undertaken to prove the strategies and probabilities of winning, which further prove that skill predominates over chance, in Texas Holdem poker.
The accused have been let off their charges of “Unlawful Gambling” and now there is further hope that poker players can challenge state law. For online players this may be the first step against “Unlawful Internet Gambling” and a way to take on the UIGEA.
Less than a week to go and the new president will take his place. From an online gambling perspective I can’t wait for the change of leadership. From a personal perspective, change is always good and I hope that the economy is repaired as quickly as possible, so that people can prosper, instead of fearing the loss of their jobs.
Obviously Obama is not going to focus on the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) in his first few weeks of office. I would hope that the new president will focus on more pressing issues – but of course it would be great if he does lead change to this law early on in his term – so that he doesn’t have to do anything illegal as the President….logging on late at night to join his favorite online poker room…might not be the best move.
We have to hope that enough people in Congress come to their senses soon and realise that the UIGEA does not make sense. Most importantly, that it does not achieve its aim of trying to regulate online gambling.
As an avid gambler, have you made contact with the Poker Players Alliance? Or, have you at least been to their website to see what they do? An organized and coordinated effort is required to get this law changed, I think they are doing a great job of organizing opposition towards the UIGEA.
Write a personal letter to Congress and join the 70,000 people that have already done this – well done to them!
If you want something really badly – then you have to fight for it! If you want to play online casino games and poker, legally, then you have to get organized and have a strategy of attack. Don’t just sit on the side and complain.
Up until now the people defending this law have been more organized than those trying to oppose it. But this is about to change, more and more online gamblers are putting together a joint offensive to fight this law. And, good for them!
Let’s make it legal to play online poker – even in the White House!

Well it was a nice break for a few days and it was good to catch up with family and friends. I hope that you managed to take it easy for some of the time and get a break.
2008 got off to a slower start than what I had hoped for, but I am hoping that this year we will bring you regular up-to-date gaming news and tips. I will be dedicating more time to keeping the blog up and running. My aim for the coming year is to engage with anyone who is interested in our site, I welcome your comments and feedback. I will try my best to answer any casino game questions or in fact any questions that you may have.
Over the festive season I was able to do a little research and reading. I am really amazed at the choice of online casino games on the internet. It is incredible how this industry has grown and the choice that we now have. But not only the choice, the quality of games has improved. You only have to go back a couple of years and compare the games, to see the leap in quality.
