Baccarat, once believed to be a James Bond, martini sipping, glitzy, posh game played only in places like Monte Carlo, has come into its own and why not? Baccarat is a fun, easy to play, sit back and watch, low risk table game with some of the best odds in the casino.

Stretching the Baccarat budget is relatively a three-fold process involving: knowing the rules of the game, incorporating betting strategies and tips and staying the course.

Rules

Historically, Baccarat was a game reserved for high rollers so many casino goers may have never played the game. If you want to stretch your Baccarat budget begin by knowing the rules of the game. No one should ever play a game when they don’t know the rules.

Baccarat betting is where the real skill comes into this casino game. Baccarat is really a very easy game although the rules may seem a tad tricky. Very simply, two cards are dealt, to the player and to the bank. The object of the game, very much like Blackjack, is to reach the number 9 without going over. Any hand over 10, like a 5 and a King, 15, will drop the first digit making the player’s score a 5. The wager is either on the bank or the player, pretty much an even 50/50 split.

Betting Strategies

If you want to stretch your Baccarat budget, be conscious of betting patterns. Don’t ever go overboard. Stay away from systems, like the martingale double up system. Even though Baccarat is almost like a glamorous coin toss, double up systems can deplete the whole budget if you go on a little losing streak.

If you want to stretch your Baccarat budget bet small and steady.

Stay the Course

Responsible gaming comes with a plan. This plan is general and not specifically designated to a particular game like Baccarat but having a plan will absolutely help stretch that budget. Before sitting down, establish a time frame for how long you want to play baccarat. Also, establish a loss limit, how much you’re willing to lose and a win limit, how much you’d like to win.

Stick to the plan and you will stretch your Baccarat budget for as long as you’d like.

No matter how many times I conduct causal polls in casinos around the United States, there is one trend that keeps popping up. Actually, there are a number of trends, but for the purposes of this article I will restrict my focus to just one. Specifically, I am talking about the way stateside gamblers think of the game of Baccarat. You’d be amazed how much uniformity there is on this matter.

By and large, the average American gambler does not feel a tremendous amount of comfort playing or even talking about Baccarat. For a host of societal reasons, this game have never taken root in our nation the way it has in many places overseas. I am less concerned with finding the reasons for this trend than in addressing it head-on. Because there is no reason whatsoever that more players should not devote a fair amount of time to this excellent game.

Contrary to what seems to be a widespread public opinion, Baccarat really is a pretty simple game to play, and doesn’t require a great degree of skill or decision making once the deal commences. The key to the game is to understand how to proceed in choosing between three possible bets. Let’s look at each of these:

Player Bet: here you are betting that the deal to the player box will win. Banker Bet: here you are betting that the deal to the banker box will win. Tie Bet: here you are betting that the player and banker hands tie.

Given this structure, it is not surprising that good Baccarat playing strategy is also pretty straightforward. Which is funny when you see so many players sitting at the table taking detailed notes!

There is no mystery here. It is common for players to record the outcomes of prior Baccarat deals on a scorecard. Players look for patterns in the game and bet based accordingly. Casinos do not discourage the use of these scorecards. This strategy does not assist much in helping the player improve their chances of winning. The outcome of prior hands in baccarat will not help in determining the outcome of future hands. While card counting will definitely improve returns in Blackjack, it will do nothing for you in baccarat betting. So much for that old myth!

Sound Baccarat strategy is all about choosing the low house edge bet. You do not need an advanced degree in calculus to be able to tackle this challenge, either. A bit of study will allow you to maximize the returns you should bet on every hand. This is the most reliable approach, though it may lack some of the zest and thrills you associate with your other favorite gambling diversions.

If you want to mix things up a bit, it wouldn’t hurt to place the odd player bet. That way, a new degree of unpredictability will be added to the gaming experience. The important thing is to just go ahead and give Baccarat a shot.

Baccarat has great odds for the player. When the player’s betting, the house has only a small edge. To balance this out, the house takes a commission, usually 5 percent, on winning bank bets. The bets are always made before any of the cards have been dealt. The banker plays against only one player at a time. Even so, everyone present can bet on each hand.

The baccarat table is well endowed! Up to 14 players have been known to sit around the kidney shaped baccarat table, depending of course on the size of the table. Baccarat employs three dealers at a time! They have special names too – croupiers – and they run the game together. The duties of the croupiers are as follows: two handles the bets and commissions, one handles the cards. Players may sit where they wish. Bets are always made in a specially marked area on the table that corresponds to each player’s seat. Players can bet in three ways: you can bet on the bank, on a player’s hand or on a tie. This is where it can turn into “every man for himself!” It’s not at all uncommon to see players switch from betting on the bank to betting on a player’s hand and back and forth. If you have a larger payoff, you should not bet on a tie. This bet is considered to be one of the worst bets in the casino.

Bets are made by placing your money on the table in your marked area on the wagering spot — the one that corresponds to the player or players you are betting on. Each wager spot has a spot for the player and the bank. If you are betting on the player, you put your cash in the spot marked for the player. If you are betting on the bank, you put your cash in the spot marked for the bank. For example; you want to bet on the bank in spot 4, and the player in spot 6. Here’s what you do: you put your cash in the area marked “bank” in spot 4, and the area marked “player” in spot 6. See? Easy, right?

Winning bets pay even money, except of course, the commission is subtracted. Sorry, house rules. Hands that are tied pay off 8 to 1, oh, and a bank or player bet is treated as a push. The good news is that the money for the push stays on the table for the next hand! Have fun.

Play begins with both player and banker getting two cards dealt face down each. The next move depends on the cards in the hands.

Should the player or banker have cards totaling 8 or 9, they turn the cards over immediately. If someone does this the other players must turn over as well. If you are playing on the web, baccarat cards are always face up. The 9 value wins over any lesser total, if neither player has a 9, then 8 wins over any lesser total. Tied 9’s and 8’s are a stand off. In this tie situation no money changes hands, unless the other players at the table can bet on ties.

If no one has a natural (that’s what a total of 8 or 9 is called) then the play goes to the player. The player must stand (no draw) on a total of 6 or 7. If the player has a total of 5 or less, he must draw one card face up.

When the player completes these actions, it’s the banker’s turn. The banker stands on a total of 7. If the banker has a 6 or less, the banker’s next move depends on the value of his two card total, and the value of the card that the player drew. Here’s what he’s got to do

Both, the Italian and French meaning for the word baccarat is ‘zero’ in English and has generated much controversy on its origins, with each country wanting to claim the name as their own.

The history of baccarat too is steeped in myth and mystery and follows some baccarat rules. On version believes that the game was first invented by an Italian gambler Felix Falguierein in the Middle Ages and was originally played with a deck of Tarot cards. Later, the game was introduced in France around 1490 A.D. and remained exclusive to the French nobility for some time before becoming an online casino game.

Although now it really bears no consequence whether baccarat was invented in Italy or France, the truth is that the playing game of Baccarat is very, very old. It has moved and evolved through several countries and continents for centuries and has acquired many different rules and variations in baccarat in different countries.

Initially, the French variation of the game baccarat was called Chemin de Fer which after becoming popular in England began to be known as European Baccarat. It then spread to South America. Finally, it was Tommy Renzoni who brought this game to the United States in the late 1950s as a combination of European baccarat and “Chemin de fer”. It was introduced into Las Vegas at the infamous Dunes casino in the late 1950s after the Cuban government closed the Havana casinos.

Over the years, some rules have changed in every country but the style has remained the same. It has kept its elegance and is still one of the most appealing games to the high rollers and individuals with high social standings in every society.

In order to popularize the game even among the average players, Mini baccarat was invented. It has the same basic rules as American baccarat, but the lower table limits and simplified procedures attracted players with average bankrolls. Similarly, with the advent of online gambling and same rules as mini baccarat, it can be played by anyone across the globe regardless of his status.

A Guide for Blackjack Players Who Want to Learn Baccarat

If you enjoy Blackjack then you might also enjoy the game of Baccarat. Both of these card games have an objective of building a hand that is worth a certain value. In the game of Blackjack the goal value is 21, and in the game of Baccarat the goal value is nine. If you would like to learn how to play Baccarat then continue reading this article.

Card Values for Baccarat

The game of Baccarat is just as easy to learn as the game of Blackjack. The first thing that you need to know is how the values of the cards are determined and the baccarat rules. Each card from Ace to Nine is given its face value, with the Ace being worth one point, and face cards are each worth zero points. The value of a hand is determined by adding the points of each card together. If your final value is worth more than nine points than you will need to subtract ten points from your final score. For example if you were dealt a four and a six your score would be ten. However, since your score is worth more than nine points you would need to subtract ten points, leaving you with a final score of zero points. The best hand in this game is worth nine points.

How to Play Baccarat

When you join a Baccarat table and the game begins you will need to place a bet on whether you think the best hand will belong to the dealer, to you, or if there will be a tie. After bets have been made the dealer will give you two cards and they will give two cards to the bank. You next will look at your cards to see if you have a natural hand. A natural hand will be worth eight points of nine points. If you do have a natural hand the game ends. If you bet that you would have the best hand the bank will pay you even money on your bet.One should learning money management in baccarat which can help you turn the money you risk while betting. However, if you bet that the bank would have the best hand you would lose. If the bank has a natural hand and you bet that you would have the best hand then you would lose your money also. However, if you bet that the bank would have the best hand then you would win even money minus a 5 percent commission to the bank.

If neither you nor the bank has a natural hand the games continues. If your hand has a score of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 then you will be required to draw one more card. However, if your score is 6 or 7 then you won’t be able to draw another card. After the draw has been completed you will compare your hand to the bank’s hand. You will win even money if you bet on the highest hand.

Learning money management in baccarat can help you turn the money you risk while gambling into prudent investment. No doubt that you will lose some money to the casino as all casino games have a house edge, but in the long run managing your bankroll well can help you minimize your losses and maximize your gains.

The first rule about good money management is discipline. Forget about gut feelings, luck and the adrenaline rush of playing a casino game; at times you will have to pass up a big score. Discipline is a must and without that money management will not be possible.

Secondly, money management requires that you know the basic baccarat rules. You must have a decent knowledge of the rules of the game to understand how to benefit from it monetarily. Also, you must set some limits for losing and winning. You cannot have unrealistic expectations like earning thousands of dollars overnight. You should learn to pay full attention to all baccarat sessions, and ‘freak streaks’ that occur in every casino game.

‘Freak Streaks’ are those moments when lady Luck suddenly decides to favour you after sitting long hours at a table. You may win sometime and lose the other times. Baccarat money management however, teaches you to use discipline to be conservative. Thirty or forty times the minimum bet is about what your bankroll should be. If you want to play $5 baccarat, you need about $150 to $200. Bet $25 per hand, and you will lose over time.

Don’t rely on feeling of luck and instinct. Play only what your bankroll can afford. When you are done playing, you may have lost small, or won small, but you will have minimized risk. When you play enough sessions, managing your money, you will win in the long run.

Prudent money management will go a long way to help you avoid losing all your money, whether you are sitting in a casino, at a poker tournament or playing online baccarat.

The game of baccarat has earned tremendous popularity with card lovers across the globe. As the game reached different corners of the world, it manifested into different varieties and gathered different styles of play. Although some of the baccarat rules changed and the game was christened with new names, the primary objective remained the same – to bet on the hand, which values closest to nine.

In France, the most famous baccarat version played in casinos is the “chemin de fer”. This also serves as the foundation for other baccarat versions played in several countries in Europe and North America.

The game is played with at least two players. The casino is not directly involved with the game, but does collect a commission which is a certain percentage of the win in the bank, usually 5%. It is a game of competition between players where one serves as the player. This role rotates around the table with each new game. The rules for drawing a third card are flexible. For example, the value of the hand is five. This hand can either draw another card or stand.

In USA, the Nevada Baccarat or the American Baccarat as it popularly called is the baccarat game of choice. Most online games of baccarat are based on the rules used in this version. In this type the rules are quite simple. The players play against the house, which provides the funds for the game. One only needs to bet a certain amount not lower than the table limit on either the banker or the player. The pay-off is proportional to the amount of bet. However, a 5% commission is paid to the house for every win in the bank’s hand. An option to wager on the tie is also available in most casinos.

The European Baccarat is the English version of the game and has spread to some parts of South America as well. Here, the casino is actively involved in the game. The casino funds the bank’s hand and sets the betting limit for the players. The same 5% commission is also collected for every win in the bank. In drawing the third card, the bank may choose to do so with a hand that values a total of five. The player may also draw another card or stand when its hand also values five. With this option, the rules for a third card draw are similar to the rules in the America version.

I always have a laugh at some of the characters that you find in the casino at a baccarat table. Sometimes you get that special someone who decides they have to be different. Whether it be the hat, shoes or a special style they have chosen.

But heh its all about fun and entertainment so why not?? Get out there and make a special effort sometimes, blow them away!!

You see everything in Vegas of course! I am just never surprised anymore, its just like oh yeah whatever… you think you’re weird but actually you’re just as normal as the guy next door. Funny how we try harder to be different, but end up all just looking like someone we know or have seen… all looking the same.

Baccarat does attract some colorful charaters though. Slot machines are fairly unexciting and most people fit a standard character. You don’t really see people dressing up to play slots. Whereas baccarat seems to drag out all sorts, from the people who have made it and don’t care, through to the ones still trying to impress on the way up!
